Need Motivation?

Hello!

We still exist, and I am enjoying my vacation. It is not a real vacation though, I still have to work around the house, but no geography and literature in my mind!

Gerardo is getting ready for Aggie football starting soon, and for his annual hunting trip with his best and only brother Enrique. So, this means that... YES, there are arrows flying in our backyard. I must admit that I like him doing that...he looks so handsome and strong (yes, I'm his wife):
Veronica AND THE KIDS are staying with me while Enrique and Gerardo are hunting. They are going to stay the whole week! I'm so excited and thankful that I'm not going to stay all alone.

And in other news, we are planning to use our new fryer (which was a wedding gift from my uncle) someday soon. Maybe today, or tomorrow.
I'll let you know how the home-made fried pickles, mushrooms and onions tasted!

yesterday!

Yesterday I finished summer school. Life is SO much better without it.
For the first time, I took two classes during the summer and it was definitely more difficult than what I expected. But if I want to graduate on time, I have to take summer...and I DO want to graduate as soon as possible.
I have two weeks before I start fall semester and I plan to enjoy them!
So today, I'm happily sitting down on the couch listening to the washing machine do its job. And I'm thanking God for "super load" options on washing machines. And for my husband who took me out to eat yesterday, to celebrate my freedom!

Oh and just so you know, if you live around Austin or Round Rock, Logan's has a special offer: 2 meals for 12.99 Mondays & Tuesdays, with the delicious free bread and everything!
Guess where we ate yesterday.

Aahh...Love.

I was driving to my house yesterday, and heard on the radio one of those songs that you don't even remember who sings it but you just know the lyrics. It brought me back to a moment in my life were I was dreaming about the person to whom I would give my heart to. I could only imagine finally meeting him and experiencing such great joy!

With the help of my friend google, I found the song. This is a part of the lyrics:

God Must of Spent A little More Time on You- N'sync

Your love is like a river
Peaceful and deep
Your soul is like a secret
That I could never keep
When I look into your eyes
I know that it’s true
God must of spent
A little more time
On you

In all of creation
All things great and small
You are the one that surpasses them all
More precious than
Any diamond or pearl
They broke the mold
When you came into this world
And I’m trying hard to figure out
Just hope I ever did without
The warmth of your smile
The heart of a child
That’s deep inside
Leaves me purified

Now that I found the love of my life, I truly admire how God spent time creating him exactly for me. God knew we were going to be one someday. I am finally experiencing that joy now.
Aahh... I'm in Love! =)

When you just can't decide...

Feast Day

Today is the Feast day of St. John Vianney. When I went to France with the Brothers of St. John about a year ago, the little and beautiful town of Ars was the first place we visited. This Saint is also know as "The Cure of Ars".
Here I am in front of the Church where he heard confessions from people all over the world for 16 hours each day. Isn't that amazing? He is the Patron of priests...I can see why.
And YES ladies and gentleman, his body is incorrupt!
It was so funny how I found out. We were praying inside the Church and I just turned to my right to see what was there and WOW I see a body. Then they told me. It was the first time I had seen a dead body. I was shocked. But this body was a Saint--what a blessing to pray literally in front of him.
And just in case you want to see MORE, here is a picture outside where he used to live.
And from the inside, where his room was. I'm not sure I remember correctly, but I think the bed is all scratched like that because the devil used to torture (is that the word?) him...like Padre Pio.St. John Vianney-pray for us.

Super

Here is a picture of our new curtains! Thanks to my super-husband (who wrote a super-post the other day) and thanks to my cousin who helped my super husband hang the super-new curtains.
There are still a lot of things we have to do around the house...but little by little we are turning it into our home. And I am really enjoying the process. =)

Oh and I almost forgot. Here is a picture of the cake-made out of cupcakes- a baked for my dad.
yuummmo!

I don't know how to cook

Is what Roxy would say before we got married, shying away like I would be disappointed. Well in the first month and a half of our life together, Roxy has made:

  • Spinach-stuffed crepes
  • Milanesas
  • Four-cheese migas
  • Picadillo with fideo
  • Cheese mashed potatoes
  • Countless desserts
  • Zucchini cheese bread
  • Guisado
  • homemade lemonade

And of course there's much more.

Here's to my wife that can't cook!

They left. I feel sad.
It's just Oso and me now. It's just my geography exam and me now.
It's just God and me now. That's how it is...until Gerardo gets out of work.

No llores porque acabó, alegrate porque sucedió.
Don't be sad because it ended, be happy because it happened.

Real

Hey everyone! Thanks for the comments on the Pope's video post!
This weekend we went to Laredo and got to share the video with family and friends. Among those friends included some of the Brothers of St. John because we went to Mass at their chapel. And YES, that is the chapel where a little more than a month ago we got married. Being there for the first time after the wedding was great. It helped me remember a lot of things and also I could remember how I felt. Walking down the aisle, saying our vows and just trying to enjoy the moment.
Now, we are back from the honeymoon and everything is starting to feel real. I'm taking summer classes on-line which makes me sit in front of the computer at least 4 hours a day, which makes me have less time to do things around the house, which reminds me that when the semester starts, I'll be a full-time student and 4 hours will be nothing, which reminds me that I have to organize myself so I can do both things as best as I can, which reminds me of the graces I received that day of our wedding, those graces that I continue to receive, those graces that remind me of my vocation as Gerardo's wife. And all that calms me down, this is just the beginning. God is good and hopefully some day the laundry will double and the dishes will triple! But not this day-- my classes are waiting.

Wujuuuuuuuuuuuu!

OH my goodness, Oh my goodness!
We just received this video. It's only 17 seconds long...but what a blessing to have it on video!
Every time I see it I want to cry. I remember the exact moment...
Pope Benedict was closer and we grabbed his hands, one Gerardo and one me. Then Gerardo said: "Animo Papa! Mucho animo!" and I said as best as my tears permitted: "Desde Mexico Papa!!" Then Pope Benedict stopped for half a second, looked at us and said: "Que Dios los bendiga"
He wasn't saying anything to anyone, he was just shaking hands. Truly a blessing directly from God.

And here we have, one of the best 17 seconds of our lives:

Our new family member!

This little and beautiful rabbit started visiting our backyard the other day. Gerardo makes fun of me every time I take a look outside to see the little rabbit...he says I get VERY excited...and he is right.
The other day I was even MORE excited because we saw two of them. I tried to open the door and go outside, but the moment I started unlocking the door, they heard me, and ran/jumped away! I wanted them to see that they are welcomed here...so I thought of another idea. I ran to the kitchen and grabbed some lettuce. I layed some pieces on the grass and waited a few minutes. They came back a couple of hours later... I still don't know if they liked the lettuce though.
We'll see how long they continue visiting us. I hope my lettuce plan worked!

Grapes and gifts

happy day!

Poreso otra vez, feliz dia!
